TV screen adaptations of Umera Ahmed’s novels

Umera Ahmed is a very accomplished Urdu writer of the current times. She has successfully carved a great niche among the contemporary Urdu writers. She started her writing career from the Urdu popular fiction digests. Very soon, she was popular enough to get offers from the TV drama serial directors and producers to write scripts.
Many of Umera’s Urdu stories and novels have been adapted for the TV screen. The most popular examples are Darbar-e-Dil, Thora SA Aasman, La Hasil, Amer bail, Man o Salwa and Meri Zaat Zara e Benishan.
Not all the on-screen adaptations of the Urdu novels of Umera Ahmed were up to the task. In fact, most of the above-mention novels deemed to be poor on-screen due to weak scripts and poor acting.
However the on-screen adaptation of the Urdu novel Meri Zaat Zara e Benishan was excellent. In fact seeing the drama serial was far more insightful and enjoyable than the written novel. The reason was simple. First, the script of the novel was enhanced by Umera Ahmed herself. Other than that, the length of the novel was increased to induce further elaboration and clarity. It would be right to say that Humayon Saeed and Abdullah Kadwani did a brilliant job while making this drama serial. The acting of all the actors was superb.
