There are different factors that calculate the influence of a language on the world. The Urdu language of course, cannot be an exception when it comes to rules. The following are not hard and fast rules. Nevertheless, these are the factors agreed upon by most of the linguists and other analysts of the world.
Population of the speakers of the language
The population that speaks the language is one important factor. A large population speaks the Urdu language. Therefore, as far as the population is concerned the Urdu can be called an influential language.
Literature of the language
To make a language influential, its literature should be made very rich. Some people believe that the literature of the Urdu language is very rich. This is not true from the international point of view. The Urdu literature lacks science fiction and other technology related stories.
Economy of the countries speaking the language
The amount of power a certain country has also decides the influence of its language. We can take the example of Russia. When it was a super power, its language had huge importance to the world. When it broke, its language also went down. As far as economy is concerned, the Urdu language is not influential at all.
