Zahida Zaidi, who retired as English professor from Aligarh Muslim University. She is a bi-lingual writer in English and Urdu, dramatist, stage director and poet. Her poetry has great depth of feelings and also balanced by a perfect grip over form and technique. As a dramatist, she is one of the best at present.
She does staging and direction of her plays herself. Professor Zaidi directed, staged and translated into Urdu most of the literary giants and modern dramatists of the west. Pirandello, Chekhov, Sartre, Beckett and Ionesco are among the greats of the Western world she has translated and staged.
Professor Zahida Zaidi wrote “Glimpses Of Urdu Literature Select Writings”, here is a collection of informative essays on some landmark figures of Urdu literature.
